Library as a Hub for E-governance: A Proposal for Public Libraries in Kerala

Abstract: E-governance in India has played a crucial role in bridging the digital divide in the country. Among the southern states, Kerala has achieved a remarkable success with e-governance projects. Akshaya project of the Government of Kerala illustrates the benefits that a society receives through e-governance. Akshaya has an instrumental role behind the success story of e-governance in the State. The paper discusses potential e-governance projects in Kerala and the possibilities of e-governance mediated through libraries as an innovative service for libraries.
