  abstract = {The workflow management system is one of the most rapidly developed technologies in the computer application
field in recent years. The paper firstly summarizes the concepts relating to the workflow and workflow management system,
which was conducted through the research in the current environment on workflow technology and analysis of the existing
deficiencies from the abstract level. Then it summarizes the characteristics of the workflow management system, the system
structure and workflow model in workflow management system on the basis of careful analysis and study. Then, it puts
forward the system structure of the workflow management platform based of JAVA according to the idea of the Model-viewcontroller
design pattern and module design. At present, the development of workflow management system has become one
of the most important research contents in the field of information system. This paper discusses the framework of the system
design. Practice shows that the design of Java RMI application system is suitable for distributed heterogeneous structure of
the workflow management system; the system architecture design becomes simple, but also simplifies the maintenance work,
