Among different approaches to develop these models, the Multi-agent Based Systems (MABS) approach has been gaining attention and importance as a third way of doing science. This third way consists of using MABS to develop models capable to reproduce properties of a complex system. Thereby, investigating the foundations to the development of such models, this paper presents the main concepts of complex systems, as well as the computational requirements implemented by the CORMAS, which is a MABS platform.},
