Over the past decade, social media usage in India has increased due to advancements in communication technology, particularly the widespread availability of internet connections in India. Today’s generation is highly skilled in using platforms like YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, blogs, websites and other social media. Access to the latest developments across various fields no longer requires visiting libraries, Universities and other research centres, as information is readily available online from anywhere in the world with high-speed internet access at affordable cost. The policies related to information and communication technology (ICT) and electronic media, especially telecommunication have made it easy to access social media, where vast amounts of information are stored. This information, accessible to both literate and illiterate individuals, continuously contributes to the intellectual growth of a country. People can collect, organise, and use this information for specific purposes, enhancing their knowledge and skills at personal and professional levels. Email and online meeting platforms like Google Meet, Skype, and Microsoft Teams offer further intellectual and professional growth opportunities without geographic restrictions. While social media and ICT facilitate personal and professional development, their use must comply with cybersecurity norms. Proper and ethical use of social media can contribute to the growth of individuals and the nation. Content developers and social media managers are playing important roles in leveraging their knowledge for personal and professional advancement. Social and ethical norms and restrictions could be considered during usage of such media. This study uses descriptive and exploratory methods, relying on secondary data, to examine the relationship between social media and intellectual growth in India. The findings highlight the reasons behind the rise of social media and its role in enhancing intellectuality concentrating on the Indian scenario. }, }
