A Glance on the Sleeping Beauty Review Among Iranian Scholars in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities at Iran’s Top Universities

Abstract: A researcher can influence the scientific community in various ways and gain scientific influence. Receiving citations is one of the primary scientific impact methods that is used to determine the influence of a work and scientific communication of a researcher. If the research output has less than one citation per year, it is in deep sleep, and if the citation is between one and two per year, it is in deep sleep. In scientific communication and research evaluation, there are various debates that lead to the identification of two phenomena of late and early citation. There are also articles that find a sleeping beauty in a field and refer to it for the first time, bring it out of slumber and bring it back to the cycle of scientific communication.The purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of the scientific productions of the of Iranian scholars in the feilds of Social Sciences and Humanities in top universities of Iran and scientific community, a comparative study of the two early and late citation phenomena in the scientific production, and the study of their citation status to determine the citation behavior of specialists in these areas.This is an applied research with a Scientometric approach. Scopus and Web of Science reference databases are used to data gathering. The statistical population of the research is the most cited researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences of Iran’s top universities in terms of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC).
