Abstract Indicators proposed to evaluate scientific productivity lack strong theoretical foundations. Any framework that assesses the scientific merits should be supported by a strong theoretical foundation. Scientific institutions that rely on various evaluation indicators need to use theory-based frameworks. In the current work we have designed the AHP questionnaire and provided them to the users to record the responses. After obtaining... Read More

Universities play an important role in the academic world and their performance needs to be constantly assessed. Many parameters are used to do it, out of which citation analysis is a major tool. In this paper we have evaluated the research output analysis of the Tarbiat Modares University in the period of 1988 -2019. The papers produced from this university indexed in the web of science is studied which consists of 24004 records. For the anlaysis we primarily used the HistCite software tool to generate the mapping. We found that the productivity of the university is increasing and most production in 2019 was with 2636 documents. The citations received by the researchers have increased until 2011 but later it has declined. Many papers are co-authored by the institutions such as the Islamic Azad University and University of Tehran whereas the international collaboration goes to the United States. The drawn cluster showed the most important papers in the field of Chemistry. The results generated in this major study will help the university to plan the future scientific directions.
