This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric and altmetric analysis of Chemical Science research produced at Kuvempu University between 1992 and 2023, utilizing the Dimensions.ai database. It aims to evaluate publication productivity, citation impact, and the digital footprint of scholarly outputs beyond traditional metrics. A total of 1,180 publications were retrieved and analyzed for citation patterns, coauthorship networks, and Altmetric Attention Scores (AAS). Descriptive statistics, multiple regression, and Shannon entropy analyses were employed to assess online visibility and the diversity of engagement. The research output accumulated 22,412 citations, averaging 19.01 per publication, with journal articles constituting the vast majority (1,127). Leading journals in citation impact included the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and the Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry. Altmetric analysis of the top ten articlesrevealed that online engagement is overwhelmingly concentrated within academic readership platforms, notably Mendeley (94.1% of interactions), rather than public or media channels. However, geographical analysis of tweeting activity demonstrated high international diversity, with India contributing the largest share (31.71%). Additionally, 31 patent mentions indicated measurable research translation. The findings demonstrate that while traditional citation impact remains substantial, altmetric indicators provide crucial complementary insights into research visibility. A corpus of 2,387 publications was retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed across five PlumX dimensions: Citations, Usage, Captures, Mentions, and Social Media. Descriptive statistics, Spearman's correlation analysis, and comparative assessments of Open Access (OA) versus Non-OA publications were conducted. Results indicate that Agricultural and Biological Sciences dominate the institute's output. Notably, Captures (average 42.3) and Citations (average 24.0) emerged as the most impactful dimensions. Spearman's analysis revealed a very strong, statistically significant positive correlation between Captures and Citations (ñ = 0.978, p<0.001), whereas Usage and Mentions showed negligible correlation with citations, validating that these metrics measure distinct facets of research influence. Furthermore, OA publications demonstrated a significant "Open Access advantage," substantially outperforming Non-OA counterparts in Usage, Captures, and Mentions, thereby amplifying societal reach. Results reveal substantial heterogeneity in indicator dynamics, with the Award (Nobel/Fields Medal staff) and Nature & Science (N&S) scores exhibiting the largest absolute changes. Regression analysis demonstrated that prestige related indicators, particularly Award ( = 0.402), exert the strongest influence on Total Score, collectively explaining over 92% of the variance. PCA identified two dominant dimensions Academic Prestige and Research Excellence (PC1, 71.8% variance) and Publication Productivity and Efficiency (PC2) highlighting the primacy of impact and reputation over publication volume. K-means clustering (validated via elbow, silhouette, and Davies Bouldin metrics) delineated three strategic archetypes: Elite Prestige Leaders (e.g., Harvard, Stanford), Research Driven Institutions (e.g., MIT, UC Berkeley), and Balanced High Performers.Elite institutions displayed remarkable positional stability, while competitive pressures drove volatility in other tiers. These findings underscore how scientific prestige, high impact research, and cumulative advantage sustain stratification in global higher education.
